    SERVICING INFORMATION
HOOD LOCK: To open hood move the release lever to the right, on upper end of center vertical grille bar. This releases
latch. To release safety catch, reach between hood and grille at center and pull up on pad. Hood is held open with counter-
    balance springs.
BATTERY: Location - Left side, under hood. Size - 12 volts, 54 plates, 53 ampere hour with 8.6:1 compression ratio.
66 plates, 61 ampere hour with 10.25:1 and 10.75:1 compression ratio. Negative terminal grounded.
PRESSURE COOLING: Valve in cap set to open at 12 - 15 pounds pressure. Before removing radiator cap, turn it counter-
clockwise until slight stop is reached to allow any pressure in the system to escape through the overflow before the cap is
removed. The cap must always be turned down tightly to maintain the cor rect pressure.
RADIATOR DRAIN: Drain cock in center of radiator at bottom. Drain cock can be reached from below.
BLOCK DRAIN: Drain plug in side of each block.
GAS TANK FILLER: Sedans - Under door at center of body, between tail lights. Door hinged at top. Safaris - Under door
in left rear fender. Push top of door to expose filler cap.
The information contained in this Mobilubrication Bulletin is based on latest advice received
direct from the factories. As in previous years, changes in design may be made in manufac-
    turers' later production.

Figures and numerala printed in ital ics and enclosed in parenthesis, as (D. 1), refer to illustrations and
descriptions appearing on the Mobilubrication Disc Chart which are applicable to 1960 construction.
TRANSMISSION (D-1): Standard. Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain and refill every
10,000 miles. Never steam clean or use kerosine or solvents to flush housing.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Plug in right side of housing.
Drain: Plug in bottom of housing.
HYDRA-MATIC DRIVE (D-3): Optional. Check fluid level every 1000 miles. To check level, apply toe set parking brake
tightly, move selector le ver to "P" and run engine until it is at normal operating temperature to make sure transmission fluid
is also at normal operating temperature. Dipstick and filler hole on right side and can be reached from under hood. Remove
all dirt, sand or lint from around dipatick. Reduce engine speed to slow idle and remove dipstick. Fluid level should be
between the "F" and "L" marks on dipstick. One pint is required to bring fluid level from lower to full mark.
Drain and re fill the hous ing every 25,000 miles.
See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Lubrication of Automa tic and Semi-A utomatic Transmissions" for complete and
    approved instructions.
REAR AXLE (HYPOID GEARS) (D-6): Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain and refill
every 10,000 miles. Ne ver steam clean or use kerosine or solvents to flush housing. Safe-T-Track limited slip differential
optional and can be identified by letter "L" stamped on housing pad or, after removing hub cap, by green paint on end of axle

reservoir and remove cap. Maintain fluid level at mark on neck of reservoir. Use Mobilfluid 200. Replace and tighten cap.
MANIFOLD HEAT CONTROL: Place a few drops of graphited kerosine on each end of shaft every 1000 miles to keep shaft
free. If shaft becomes frozen, free it by tapping each end of the shaft lightly with a hammer.
